Why Bed-Stuy buzzers fail
Most of the housing here is a three- or four-story brownstone cut into two to six units, with a panel that has been painted over, wired by three different people, and hit by weather every winter. The usual failures are one dead line to an apartment, a worn release strike at the vestibule door, or a transformer that quietly died. We test in order, panel, line, handset, release, and fix the one thing that broke.

For a two-family house a plain audio system is often all you need. For a building with deliveries all day, a video panel lets tenants see who is downstairs. Some systems can ring a tenant's phone. Which makes sense depends on how many units there are, what wiring is in the walls, and who will use it. We lay the options out on the visit and you decide.
Landlords and managers
If you manage more than one building, you want one company that knows your panels and keeps a note of what was replaced. We keep that record, quote in writing for bigger jobs, and plan the work so the street door stays usable while we are there.

Common questions
Only one apartment's buzzer stopped working. Is the whole system shot?
Almost never. One apartment usually means one broken wire, a dead unit inside, or a worn panel button. We test and replace that one piece.
Can you add video to an old brownstone panel without rewiring the house?
Often yes, if the existing runs are intact. We test them first and tell you plainly whether it is a panel swap or new wiring.
Do tenants lose the street door while you work?
We plan so the door stays usable, or warn you ahead of time if it cannot be for a short stretch.
